This song tells the story of how the band re-formed with a new lineup in 2020, joining up with Keith Streng of The Fleshtones, and recommitted to keeping the flame alive as a garage-rock global powerhouse. The song resonates now in the fall of 2021 as an anthemic call for us all to wake up and rock our re-opening world.
lyrics
Two lost souls by the side of the road
Shared a dream but it had exploded
Said: I can´t carry your heavy load
But I´ve got six strings here
And they´re heavy loaded
Hey little brother, don’t you understand
I’m waking up the band
Hey little sister, time to be a man
I’m waking up, just waking up the band
We walked for miles and miles, it was killing our feet.
Through the driving snow and the icy sleet
Then we met this guy looking smart and neat
Come on, let’s find a bass - make the band complete
Hey little brother, come and be a fan.
I’m waking up the band
Hey little sister, sticking to the plan
I’m waking up, just waking up the band
Now we’re wired, wide-awake
Rules and records left to break
As we rock and twist and shake
Shake!
Hey little brother, don’t you understand
I’m waking up the band
Hey little sister, time to be a man
I’m waking the band
Hey little brother, come and be a fan
I’m waking up the band
Hey little sister, sticking to the plan
I’m waking up, just waking up
Just waking up, just waking up the band
